Soudal silicone sealants and hybrids cover almost every sealing task in kitchens, bathrooms, glazing, construction and flooring. On this page you can choose by application, including Bathroom Sealants, Window & Door Frame Sealants, Glazing Sealants, Construction Sealants, Flooring Sealants, Decorators Caulk and Fire Rated or High Temperature Products.

For sanitary areas you have dedicated Kitchen and Bathroom Silicone options such as Silirub 1, Silirub A and Silirub MPS. For external frames and general building joints there are low modulus neutral cure silicones and hybrid sealants that give long term flexibility and weather resistance. Heavier duty projects use polyurethane products in the Soudaflex range, while specialist joints are handled by fire rated and high temperature sealants such as Firecryl FR, Silirub HT-A and Firecement HT°.

Whether you are sealing around a bath, finishing new uPVC windows, jointing concrete floors or carrying out fire stopping work, this Soudal range is designed to let you match the sealant chemistry to the job rather than relying on one general purpose tube for everything.

The Soudal Silirub range is the core family of Soudal silicone sealants for sanitary, glazing and general construction use. Silirub 1 is a premium sanitary grade acetoxy silicone with XS1 fungicide for long term mould resistance in high humidity areas. It is ideal around baths, showers, sinks, wet rooms and utility areas where a flexible, waterproof and hygienic seal is essential.

Silirub A is a versatile low modulus acetoxy cure silicone that can be used for both sanitary and general building work. It adheres well to glass, ceramic tiles, enamel, metals and many other common substrates, so it is suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and selected glazing and construction joints. Silirub MPS is a general purpose sanitary silicone for everyday sealing around sanitaryware where reliable adhesion and mould resistance are required.

Alongside the Silirub products, we also stock Soudal Stay Fresh NEUTRAL and Stay Fresh ACETOXY as premium anti-mould sanitary silicones for kitchens and bathrooms. Stay Fresh NEUTRAL is a low modulus, neutral cure, 100% pure silicone with XS1 fungicide, fast skinning, primerless adhesion and a lifetime guarantee, and is food-safe for use in food preparation areas and on plastics such as PVC. Stay Fresh ACETOXY is a premium acetoxy cure, 100% pure silicone with powerful anti-fungal and anti-biocidal agents, also food-safe and highly resistant to UV, weather and many chemicals, ideal where a high performance sanitary silicone is required on non-plastic substrates. Together, these Silirub and Stay Fresh silicones provide a full choice of sanitary and glazing sealants for bathrooms, kitchens and general building work.

For higher temperature and more demanding applications, Silirub HT-A is a high temperature resistant silicone that can withstand continuous heat up to around 285°C. It is used on gaskets, hot water pipework, ovens, furnaces and chimney flues where a standard bathroom silicone would not be appropriate. Together, these Silirub silicone sealants give you a focused choice for most internal and external sealing tasks in bathrooms, kitchens and glazing.

Hybrid polymer sealants are ideal when you need more than a traditional silicone, especially where movement, paintability and broad adhesion are important. Soudaseal 215LM is a low modulus hybrid polymer sealant designed for perimeter sealing around window and door frames, roofline details, facade joints and general construction joints. It bonds to most common building materials, including brickwork, concrete, metals, painted surfaces and many plastics, and can be applied on slightly damp substrates. Once cured it remains permanently elastic, has low dirt pick-up and offers long term weather resistance, making it a strong alternative to neutral cure silicone for external frame and facade work.

The Soudal Fix ALL Range uses the same SMX hybrid polymer technology in a series of high-performance sealant-adhesives. Products such as Fix ALL Flexi, Fix ALL High Tack and Fix ALL Crystal Clear combine sealing, bonding and filling in one cartridge for interior and exterior work. They adhere to almost all construction materials, can be used in kitchens, bathrooms and showers, resist mould growth, and in the case of Fix ALL Crystal Clear provide a fully transparent finish. Many grades can be overpainted once cured and are solvent and isocyanate free, giving low odour and a cleaner working environment.

Together, Soudaseal 215LM and the Fix ALL Range give you a family of Hybrid Sealants that sit alongside Soudal silicones and polyurethane sealants. Between them you can cover frame sealing, sanitary joints, elastic bonding, facade movement joints and general construction sealing with products that are compatible with modern building materials and designed for long term performance.

For concrete floors, yards and industrial slabs, Soudal polyurethane floor joint sealants provide the durability and movement capacity that busy traffic areas demand. Soudaflex 40FC is a high modulus polyurethane sealant adhesive widely used on concrete and metal surfaces for construction joints and floor details. Soudaflex 36FL and Soudaflex 33SL are specialist floor joint sealants, with self levelling options for larger or hard to reach joints. They are designed to cope with movement, forklift traffic and occasional chemical exposure once fully cured.

Where fire resistance is required, Soudal Firecryl FR provides an intumescent acrylic fire rated sealant for joints and gaps in walls and floors. It is tested to EN 1366 Part 4 and can provide up to four hours fire resistance in approved configurations. Firecryl FR can be over painted with water based coatings, which is useful where a neat decorative finish is needed alongside certified fire performance.

For very high temperature joints, Soudal offers Silirub HT-A High Temperature Silicone and Firecement HT° Hard Setting Fire Cement. Silirub HT-A is used where a flexible high temperature silicone sealant is required, while Firecement HT° is a rigid fire cement sealant for stoves, boilers, flues and other extreme heat applications up to around 1500°C. Using these floor, fire rated and high temperature sealants alongside the silicone and hybrid products allows you to specify an appropriate Soudal product for almost every joint on the project.

Acrylic decorators caulk and crack repair sealants are ideal for finishing work around internal joinery and plaster. In this Soudal range you will find products such as Soudal Decorators Caulk and Soudal Acryrub, both solvent free acrylic polymer based sealants that are easy to gun out, virtually odourless and designed to be overpainted once cured. They provide excellent adhesion on porous surfaces including plaster, brickwork, concrete, timber and aluminium, which makes them perfect for sealing around window sills, door frames, skirting boards and architraves, as well as for neat finishing at plasterboard joints.

For crack repair on textured or cementitious surfaces, Soudal RepaCryl D offers a granular, acrylic crack repair sealant that blends into concrete, pebble dash, stucco and other rough finishes. It can be washed into fine cracks, painted almost immediately with wall paint and used both inside and outside. The Soudal Repair Express products, including Repair Express Cement and Repair Express Plaster, extend this acrylic range into high speed repair compounds for larger cracks and holes in masonry and plaster. Once dry they are non shrinking, sandable and paintable, helping decorators and maintenance teams achieve a smooth, professional finish ready for decoration.

Soudal roofing sealants are designed to cope with rain, UV, movement and tough conditions on roofs, gutters and external services. For traditional bituminous systems, Soudafalt Roof & Gutter Sealant provides a high performance bitumen based sealant for felt roofs, gutters, downpipes and general roof repairs, offering strong adhesion to bituminous membranes and many common roofing materials. Soudalead Pb is a specialist low modulus neutral cure silicone sealant formulated for lead and other metals, making it ideal for sealing around lead flashings, soakers and other metal roof details where long term flexibility and adhesion to metal are critical.

Aquafix All Weather is a solvent based, plasto-elastic roof repair sealant that bonds to most building materials, even on damp substrates or under water. It is widely used for emergency repairs on leaking gutters, roofs and drainpipes because it can be applied in poor weather and still achieve a durable seal. For larger areas and more permanent waterproofing, Soudagum Hydro is a hybrid polymer, solvent free liquid roof and gutter coating that forms a seamless, elastic membrane. It can be applied to both horizontal and vertical surfaces and reinforced with Soudatextile fleece where joints or cracks need extra strength, making it suitable for full roof refurbishments as well as localised patching.

Silirub EPDM completes the roofing range as a neutral curing silicone sealant and adhesive specifically developed for EPDM membranes. It provides excellent adhesion and long term elasticity on EPDM and common building substrates, so it can be used for bonding laps, terminations and details on EPDM roofs, as well as sealing junctions between membranes and adjacent materials. Between these products, the Soudal roofing range covers everything from quick all weather repairs and bituminous details through to liquid applied membranes, lead flashings and EPDM systems.

To get the best performance from Soudal sealants and adhesives, correct preparation and application are just as important as choosing the right cartridge. The Soudal primer range includes products such as Primer 100 for polyurethane sealants on porous mineral substrates and Primer 150 for silicone and hybrid polymer sealants. These liquid primers are used to improve adhesion on difficult or highly absorbent surfaces and to help reduce the risk of edge staining on sensitive materials. When used in line with the Soudal data sheets they provide a more reliable bond and longer service life, especially on demanding projects.

Platinum Chemicals also supplies Soudal applicators and cleaners to support professional application and maintenance of the sealant range. Heavy duty mastic guns, nozzles and accessories help you apply a smooth, controlled bead, while specialist cleaners and wipes remove uncured sealant and prepare surfaces for bonding. Dedicated adhesive and foam cleaners are available for cleaning tools and equipment after use. Together, the primers, applicators and cleaners give installers a complete system so Soudal silicones, hybrids, polyurethanes and acrylics can be applied cleanly, bond properly and continue to perform as intended over time.

Soudal Sealants - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of Soudal sealants do you stock on this page?

A: This page focuses on the core Soudal sealing ranges used across bathrooms, kitchens, glazing, windows and doors, construction joints, floors, roofing and fire rated details. That includes Silirub sanitary silicones, premium Stay Fresh mould resistant silicones, glazing and frame sealants, hybrid polymer sealants such as Soudaseal and Fix ALL, acrylic decorators caulks and specialist products for roofing, EPDM and fire rated applications. Everything is grouped by application so you can go straight to bathroom sealants, frame and glazing sealants, construction and flooring sealants, roofing sealants or fire rated sealants and then choose the grade that best suits your job.

Q: What is the difference between silicone, hybrid and acrylic sealants?

A: Silicone sealants such as Silirub and Stay Fresh give excellent water resistance, flexibility and long life in bathrooms, kitchens and glazing. They are generally not paintable but perform very well in wet and high movement areas. Hybrid polymer sealants like Soudaseal and Fix ALL combine sealing and bonding, are usually paintable and adhere strongly to many construction materials, so they work well around frames, cladding and general building joints. Acrylic decorators caulks and crack repair sealants are water based, easy to tool and paint, and are mainly used for internal gaps around skirtings, architraves and plasterwork rather than in continuously wet areas.

Q: Are Soudal sealants suitable for both trade and DIY users?

A: Yes. The sealants on this page are trade quality products but they are straightforward to use for competent DIY users who follow the instructions. Bathrooms, kitchens and simple frame sealing can usually be handled by an experienced DIYer with the right preparation and tooling, while more critical tasks such as movement joints in concrete floors, structural glazing or fire rated details are best left to trained installers. Each product page explains where a sealant is typically used and highlights any special requirements, so you can decide whether the job is within your skill level or should be passed to a professional.

Q: Can I use the same sealant everywhere in the property?

A: It is tempting to use one “does everything” product, but you will usually get better results by matching the sealant to the job. Sanitary silicones and premium Stay Fresh grades are designed for constant moisture and cleaning in bathrooms and kitchens. Frame and glazing sealants are optimised for adhesion to PVC, aluminium and glass and to cope with weather and movement. Polyurethane or hybrid joint sealants suit floors and construction joints, while acrylic caulks suit internal gaps that will be painted. Fire rated and roofing sealants are purpose made for those specific applications and should not be swapped for a general sanitary or frame silicone.

Q: Which Soudal sealant should I use in a bathroom or kitchen?

A: For most bathrooms and kitchens, a high quality mould resistant sanitary silicone from the Silirub or Stay Fresh ranges is the best choice. These sealants are designed for constant moisture, regular cleaning and contact with soaps and detergents. They provide flexible joints around baths, showers, trays, sinks and worktops and resist black mould far better than basic silicones. Where there is heavy use or poor ventilation, upgrading to a premium stay-clean formula is recommended. If you need a paintable finish around trims outside the wet area, you can use an acrylic decorators caulk there in combination with a sanitary silicone in the actual splash zones.

Q: What should I use around PVC and aluminium window or door frames?

A: Around external frames you want a sealant that bonds strongly to PVC, aluminium, timber and masonry, tolerates movement and withstands weather and UV. Neutral cure silicones and hybrid polymer sealants are the usual choices. They remain flexible, resist cracking and stick well to most frame materials. On this page you will find specific window and door frame sealants and hybrid sealants that sit under the frame and glazing categories. For modern airtight installations and higher performance requirements, there are also hybrid and system sealants designed to be used with airtight tapes and membranes as part of a complete perimeter sealing system.

Q: Which Soudal sealant should I choose for glazing and glass to frame joints?

A: Glazing joints need a sealant that is compatible with glass, frame materials and any existing glazing systems. Neutral cure glazing silicones are commonly used because they cure without releasing aggressive byproducts and bond well to glass, PVC and coated aluminium. On the glazing section of this page you will find dedicated glazing sealants suitable for perimeter sealing and some structural elements, along with hybrids that combine glazing and frame sealing in one product. For structural glazing, insulated units and warranty sensitive systems, always follow the system supplier’s recommendations and check the sealant is approved for the specific glazing type and frame finish.

Q: What Soudal products do you recommend for roofing and gutters?

A: Roofing and gutter work demands sealants and coatings that remain flexible under temperature changes, resist UV, cope with standing water and bond to varied substrates such as bitumen, metals, tiles and plastics. In the roofing section of this page you will find Soudal roof and gutter sealants, emergency repair products and liquid coatings used for patching leaks, sealing joints and reinforcing weak points. Some products are brushable coatings, while others are cartridge sealants for laps, joints and cracks. Always match the product to the roof type and follow the surface preparation instructions, especially on older bituminous or previously coated areas, to achieve long term adhesion.

Q: How should I prepare surfaces before applying Soudal sealants?

A: Good preparation is essential for reliable seals. Substrates should be clean, dry (unless the product states otherwise), stable and free from dust, oil, loose paint and old, failing sealant. In bathrooms and kitchens, remove all traces of mould and soap scum before resealing. On external frames and construction joints, brush out debris and degrease non porous surfaces where needed. Some porous or difficult substrates benefit from the recommended Soudal primer, which is highlighted on the product page and technical data sheet. Proper masking, using the correct backing rod where required and tooling the sealant promptly after application will all improve the final finish and performance.

Q: Can I paint over Soudal silicones and hybrid sealants?

A: Classic silicones are generally not paintable, which is why they are often kept to joints and edges where the sealant colour is chosen to match or complement the surface. Acrylic decorators caulks, crack repair sealants and many hybrid sealants are designed to be paintable once fully cured, although it is always wise to test the paint on a small area first. The product description will state whether a sealant is paintable and which paint types are suitable. Where a painted finish is essential, use a compatible acrylic or hybrid in that area and reserve pure silicones for the permanently wet and unpainted joints.

Q: How long do Soudal sealants take to dry and cure fully?

A: Touch dry or skin formation times are usually within minutes, but full cure takes longer and depends on the sealant type, joint depth, temperature and humidity. As a rough guide, many silicones cure at around 2 to 3 mm per day, while hybrids can build strength more quickly but still need time to reach their final performance. Product pages and technical data sheets give more specific figures, so it is important to check those when planning work, especially in bathrooms, high movement joints or where the sealant will be painted or immersed. Avoid exposing fresh joints to heavy movement or cleaning until they have reached the recommended cure time.

Q: What is the best way to remove old or unwanted sealant and clean tools?

A: Old sealant should be cut away carefully with a sharp knife or scraper, taking care not to damage the underlying surfaces. Residual traces can sometimes be softened with a suitable sealant remover, depending on the substrate. For fresh, uncured sealant, use the recommended Soudal cleaner or wipes promptly before it skins over. Tools and guns can usually be cleaned with the appropriate solvent cleaner for that sealant chemistry, and regular cleaning will extend their life and keep beads neat. On this site you will find Soudal cleaners, wipes and accessories alongside the sealants so you can choose the correct cleaning method for each job.

Q: How long should a Soudal sealant joint last once installed?

A: There is no single fixed lifespan because it depends heavily on movement, cleaning, exposure and how well the joint was prepared. In general, a correctly chosen Soudal sanitary silicone or hybrid around a bath or shower can last many years if the area is cleaned regularly and kept well ventilated. External frame and construction joints also perform for a long time if the right sealant is used and the substrates are sound. Early failure is usually down to poor preparation, wrong product choice or constant movement rather than the sealant “wearing out” quickly.

Q: How can I keep bathroom and kitchen sealant looking clean for longer?

A: The key is good ventilation, sensible cleaning and prompt attention to any problems. Use an appropriate bathroom cleaner that does not aggressively attack the sealant, rinse away residues and dry the area where possible, especially in corners and ledges that stay wet. Avoid abrasive pads that can damage the surface and make it easier for dirt and soap scum to stick. Keeping extractor fans in good working order and leaving doors or windows open when practical will also help reduce condensation and mould growth on even the best sanitary silicones.

Q: What should I do if the old sealant is mouldy, cracked or peeling away?

A: If mould has penetrated into the body of the joint or the sealant has lost adhesion in places, the best solution is usually to remove it and reseal rather than trying to cover it up. Carefully cut out the old bead, clean away residues and any mould or soap deposits, allow the area to dry and then apply a fresh, suitable Soudal sealant. In bathrooms that often means a good sanitary silicone; around frames and external joints it may be a frame or hybrid sealant. Taking the time to strip back properly gives a much better result than simply smearing new material on top.

Q: Can I apply Soudal sealant over an existing sealant from another brand?

A: It is always better practice to remove failing or unknown sealants before resealing, particularly in bathrooms, kitchens and external joints. Applying fresh Soudal sealant over a different product can sometimes work for minor cosmetic tidying, but there is a risk that the new bead will not bond properly or will follow the movement and failures of the old one. If the existing sealant is mouldy, brittle, poorly adhered or of an unsuitable type, stripping it out and starting again with the correct Soudal product will almost always give a cleaner, longer lasting result.
