We stock a wide range of basement waterproofing and basement tanking solutions. We specialise in waterproof membranes from brands such as Platon, Newton and our in-house Platinum brand, and offer all of the membrane plugs, fixings, tapes and ancillaries required to complete the installation of a basement waterproofing membrane. We also offer a number of other solutions for basement waterproofing including basement tanking slurry systems and basement drainage systems.
Our basement waterproofing and tanking products are suitable for use on the internal surfaces of walls and floors of cellars, basements and other areas below ground level. If you are looking for a damp proofing product for above-ground walls or floors, take a look at our collection of damp proofing products.
BS 8102: 2009, the code of practice for the protection of below ground structures from water from the ground, defines three types of waterproofing system – Type A (Barrier), Type B (Structural Integral) and Type C (Drained). Any of these, or a combination of two or more systems, may be specified in a Structural Waterproofing project.
To make life easier for the specifier or contractor who ideally will be looking for a single point of supply and support, Platinum Chemicals supply a comprehensive range of products for both 'Type A (Barrier)' and 'Type C (Drained)' Waterproofing.
Please contact us if you require any Technical advice on Structural Waterproofing.
Type A waterproofing and basement tanking products work by blocking water from entering the building, whilst Type C cavity drainage systems redirect the water to an appropriate drainage point.
Since the introduction of the British Standard for water proofing structures below ground (BS 8102:1990, subsequently replaced by BS 8102: 2009), the use of cavity drain membranes has become the most popular form of structural waterproofing in the UK. Our systems can easily deal with aggressive ground water conditions, where basements are liable to flooding, or indeed where simple dampness, contamination or salting problems are prevalent.
