ThermSolve Thermal Anti-Condensation Paint

Platinum Building Chemicals Ltd | Anti-Condensation Paint

Anti-Condensation Paint

ThermSolve is an independently tested, complex blended thermal performance coating system which will drastically reduce condensation formation by utilising Glass Microsphere Technology.

As condensation is reduced, unsightly and potentially harmful black mould will not grow.

The Glass Microspheres effectively become 'charged' like a battery cell which enables them to retain heat for much longer compared to other decorative or specialist paints.

ThermSolve maintains surface temperatures on walls and ceilings which reduces the formation of surface condensation.

Unlike other anti-mould or anti-condensation paints which contain biocides or simply only absorb moisture, ThermSolve can be overpainted and is an ideal solution for cold, exposed walls or areas where insulation may be missing or inadequate.

Available in 2.5 Litre or 5 Litre Buckets.

Benefits
  • Reduced condensation and mould growth helping prevent the build-up of harmful spores which can cause respiratory, skin and immune problems.

  • Prevents formation of condensation.

  • Minimum preparation and disruption.

  • Perfect for use internally on those external cold exterior walls and areas of missing insulation.

  • Can be painted or wallpapered over unlike biocidal or absorbing anti-mould paints.

Application

Preparation:

Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease and dirt. Remove all loose and defective paint. Lightly abrade glossy areas with abrasive paper.

Avoid inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask when dry sanding.

Treat any visible mould with ThermSolve Preparation Treatment Spray.

Application:

  • Ensure the area is well ventilated.

  • Stir gently and thoroughly before use. DO NOT use a powered mixing paddle.

  • Application temperature between 5°C - 25°C.

  • Optimum dry film thickness is 200 microns.

  • The product should be touch dry after 2 hours depending on humidity and temperature.

  • Re-coat after 4 hours. Allow for extra drying time in cold and wet weather conditions.

  • For best results, use a medium pile roller. Can also be brush applied.

  • Over paint with a standard emulsion to achieve a smoother finish. You can also apply wallpaper over this coating.

  • Internal use only on walls and ceilings. Can be applied to block, brick, render and plaster

  • New plasterwork should be allowed to dry completely before applying ThermSolve.

Coverage:

Approximately 4-5m² per litre. 2 coats required.

Cleaning:

Remove as much product as possible from equipment before cleaning with warm water.

MCS Mould Eradication Kit

Platinum Building Chemicals Ltd | Mould Control

Mould Eradication

The Mould Control System (MCS) is a two stage treatment for walls, ceilings etc. affected by condensation mould. When both stages are completed, surfaces will exhibit excellent resistance to mould growth even under severe condensation conditions.

Typically, full control can be achieved for up to 5 years but this can be extended considerably where moisture control measures are implemented.

The Mould Eradication Kit is a full multipurpose kit providing the essential products required to held treat and eradicate Black Mould.

The Mould Eradication Kit is supplied with the required Cleaning Solution (MCS1) and Paint Additive (MCS3), along with the recommended PPE equipment (masks, gloves etc.) to treat and clean mould issues in domestic properties.

MCS1 Mould Clear Solution carries the HSE Approval No 9453; MCS3 Paint Additive carries the HSE Approval No 7656.

Kit Contents
  • 1 x 1 Litre MCS1 (Ready to Use) Mould Clear Solution Spray**

  • 1 x 100ml MCS3 Fungicidal Paint Additive**

  • 1 x Ancona Safety Spectacles (EN166 Approved)

  • 1 x Pair Flock-Lined Green Nitrile Gloves (Chemical & Solvent Resistant)

  • 1 x P2 Fold Flat Valved Respirator

  • 1 x Cleaning Sponge

** MCS1 & MCS3 ARE ALL APPROVED FOR BOTH AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL USERS.

Application

Stage 1 - Spray

Spray MCS1 Mould Clear Solution onto the affected surface from a distance of 3-5cm.

Treat visible mould PLUS 1 metre beyond. Repeat the treatment on badly affected areas after 10-15 minutes.

Areas to be Treated:

  • Painted and Timber Areas - Spray the area thoroughly with the MCS1 Mould Clear Solution.

  • Papered Areas - Spray the paper. The MCS1 Mould Clear Solution acts as a biocide and stripping agent. Bag the mould contaminated paper and remove from the property. Treat the exposed plaster with a thorough spraying of MCS1 Mould Clear Solution.

  • General Preparation - Once the surface is dry, scrape off any loose flaking paint and rub down. Previously painted surfaces must be etched using sandpaper.

  • Coverage - The solution should cover approximately 12.5m².

Stage 2 - Wipe

Rub the surface using the sponge provided. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the product to work, then rinse with warm soapy water. Repeat the treatment if necessary.

Stage 3 - Paint Additive

MCS3 Paint Additive is specially formulated to protect decorative finishes from future mould attack. This should be mixed into emulsion paint, primer, undercoat, varnish, gloss, wallpaper paste, textured paint or tile adhesive.

Add 100ml of MCS3 Paint Additive to 5L of water based paint (emulsion, vinyl, silk or matt).

Add 50ml of MCS3 Paint Additive to 5L of solvent based paint (primer, undercoat or gloss).

Blend the Paint Additive for at least 1 minute or until fully dispersed. Apply the paint in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Important - Condensation is usually increasingly the main cause of mould. To reduce this underlying problem, ensure adequate ventilation throughout the property. In very extreme cases of mould other remedial measures may be required.

Active Ingredients

MCS1 Mould Clear Solution (Ready to Use) - Contains: Acticide 50x 4.76% w/w.

Mould Control Products Mould Killer

The Mould Control System (MCS) is a two stage treatment for walls, ceilings etc. affected by condensation mould. When both stages are completed, surfaces will exhibit excellent resistance to mould growth even under severe condensation conditions.

Typically, full control can be achieved for up to 5 years but this can be extended considerably where moisture control measures are implemented.

Supplied as a concentrate, MCS1 Mould Clear 5X is designed to provide an initial wash/ sterilisation treatment to remove and kill mould spores and surface growths on painted or papered surfaces.

We recommend the wash is applied before removing mould-damaged paint or paper (to minimize spread of viable spores). When applied liberally to papered surfaces it can be an effective stripping agent.

After the first wash, and once damaged paper or plaster has been removed, it is necessary to apply a second wash with Mould Clear solution to leave the surface clean and remove any residues of dead spores etc. It is recommended that mould affected woodchip and Anaglypta papers are always removed and arenot recommended for re-instatement.

Based on established active ingredients, the Mould Clear solution both cleans and sterilises the surface as the first stage towards redecoration.

Alternatively, it can be used singly, as required, to control spore development where other measures are to be completed at a later time.

MSC1 Mould Clear Solution carries the HSE Approval No 7667.

Supplied in 5 Litre Containers, concentrated solution dilutes 1:4 with clean water to make 25 litres.
