The Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents range offers an effective solution for controlling indoor humidity levels without the need for mechanical systems. These through-the-wall vents work continuously and silently, making them ideal for use in habitable rooms, such as living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens.
Unlike mechanical systems, Passyfier vents rely on natural airflow principles, using a mineral wool slab to control the moisture vapour transmission rate. This ensures that moisture is efficiently removed from indoor environments without causing draughts, making them an excellent choice for both retrofit projects and new builds.
The extended range now also includes heritage-sensitive and high-rise variants, along with an advanced external grille option for exposed elevations, so you can match performance and appearance to the building type and location.
Excess indoor humidity can lead to issues such as condensation, dampness, and mould growth, all of which can compromise indoor air quality and the structural integrity of a building. Passyfier Vents help to prevent these issues by promoting the natural diffusion of moisture vapour through walls, maintaining a balanced humidity level without the need for powered ventilation systems.
By extracting up to 2.3 litres of water per day in larger rooms, these vents are highly efficient while being energy-free and maintenance-free. Their non-mechanical operation makes them especially suitable for spaces where silent, continuous operation is required. In multi-storey properties where external access is difficult, dedicated high-rise models can be installed entirely from the inside to deliver the same passive humidity control without scaffolding.
The Passyfier range includes several models designed to meet different requirements. The Passyfier Sleeved 230 Vent is ideal for larger spaces up to 20m², effectively managing humidity with minimal heat loss. For smaller spaces such as cupboards, wardrobes, and box rooms, the Passyfier Sleeved 75AB Vent offers the same moisture management on a smaller scale, transmitting up to 0.75 litres of water vapour per day. Mid-range options, such as the Passyfier Core 100 Vent and Passyfier Core 140 Vent, provide effective dehumidification in medium-sized rooms, extracting up to 1 litre and 1.4 litres of water vapour per day, respectively.
Each vent utilises a mineral wool slab to automatically control airflow, ensuring optimal moisture removal while preventing uncomfortable draughts. The vents come in a variety of colours to suit different aesthetic needs, and the Passyfier 230 Extension Sleeve allows for installation of the Passyfier Sleeved 230 Vent in thicker walls, offering flexibility for different building types.
For tower blocks and managed schemes where exterior access is impractical, the range now includes the Passyfier Core 100 High Rise Dehumidifier Vent and the Passyfier Core 140 High Rise Dehumidifier Vent. Both are installed entirely from indoors after core drilling, which reduces access costs and avoids scaffolding.
The Core 100 High Rise model serves rooms up to 7m² and can transmit up to 1 litre of moisture vapour per day. It uses a one-piece duct with a compressible sealing gasket and external anti-draught cowl that push-fits from the inside for a tidy, weather-resistant seal. The assembly is designed for a Ø142mm core hole and includes a telescopic tube adjustable between 240 and 350mm, plus a plastic wedge to set a slight outward fall so incidental moisture drains to the exterior.
The Core 140 High Rise model serves rooms up to 10m² and can transmit up to 1.4 litres of moisture vapour per 24 hours. It uses a Ø162mm core hole, a 154mm outer tube with 240 to 350mm reach, and is supplied with a white 200mm by 200mm by 30mm internal louvred grille with flyscreen and a colour-matched external cowl. Both high-rise variants run silently with zero power, moderate draughts via the external cowl geometry, and complement mechanical extract in kitchens and bathrooms by maintaining lower background humidity in adjacent habitable rooms.
For safety, these high-rise models must not be installed higher than six storeys above general ground level and must not be used as combustion-air vents for gas, oil, or solid-fuel appliances.
Where sympathetic detailing is essential, the Passyfier Sleeved Conservation 230 Vent provides heritage-led moisture control while preserving the appearance of traditional façades. It is based on the same diffusion principle as standard models, using a dense mineral-wool slab within a warm, telescopic sleeve to transmit moisture vapour while resisting bulk airflow.
The external assembly features an iron-effect finish over a stainless steel metal airbrick for durability and a discreet conservation-appropriate look. Sized for a nominal 250mm by 175mm opening and adjustable for walls between 240mm and 340mm thick, it is supplied with a louvred internal plastic grille with integral flyscreen. In typical domestic conditions it can transmit up to 2.3 litres per 24 hours, making it appropriate for habitable rooms up to 20m². It operates silently at all times and minimises heat loss so occupants are not tempted to block the grille.
On wind-exposed elevations and coastal locations, adding the ArrestAir®-Pro 135 Wind Blast Grille can further stabilise airflow and comfort. This universal external cover uses bi-planar vane technology to balance wind pressure and maintain ventilation without the noise and restriction associated with gravity flaps.
It fits over round ducts up to 150mm diameter and over 225mm by 150mm airbricks, provides a measured free area of 135cm², and is supplied with stainless steel screws, plugs, and installation instructions. The grille measures 256mm by 230mm by 85mm overall. By conditioning both incoming and outgoing airstreams, it suppresses draughts, deflects rain, and preserves effective free area in cross-winds, which supports the stable, silent performance expected from Passyfier sleeves and core vents.
Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents are typically installed in habitable rooms, where they help maintain a comfortable living environment by reducing humidity. They are particularly useful in areas prone to condensation, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms.
These vents can also be installed in smaller enclosed spaces like wardrobes and cupboards, where poor airflow can lead to dampness. Their ability to operate silently and continuously without the need for electrical power makes them ideal for both residential and commercial applications. In high-rise settings, the inside-fit Core 100 High Rise and Core 140 High Rise models simplify installation and minimise disruption.
If you are considering installing Passyfier vents, be sure to check out our blog, “How to Install Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents: A Simple DIY Guide Blog”, which offers a step-by-step guide to ensure a smooth installation process. At Platinum Chemicals, we provide expert advice and a range of solutions to help you tackle humidity issues effectively.
A major advantage of Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents is their non-mechanical design, meaning they do not require electricity or regular maintenance to function. This not only makes them cost-effective but also ensures they operate silently, making them perfect for use in bedrooms and living spaces.
The vents work on the principle that indoor moisture vapour pressure is higher than outside, promoting the natural diffusion of moisture to the exterior, thus continuously balancing indoor humidity levels. Because they do not rely on fans or moving parts, they are also durable, providing long-lasting performance without the risk of mechanical failure.
The Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents range offers a simple, effective solution to control indoor humidity in a variety of spaces. With models suited for both large and small rooms, high-rise properties, and conservation settings, these vents prevent condensation, dampness, and mould, improving the comfort and air quality of your home or workspace.
Their non-mechanical, eco-friendly design ensures they operate quietly and efficiently without consuming energy. Whether you are retrofitting an older building or installing them in a new build, Passyfier Vents and compatible accessories such as the ArrestAir-Pro 135 from Platinum Chemicals are the perfect choice for long-term humidity management.
