There are many ways to treat Rising Damp and Penetrating Damp, as well as our Damp Proofing Membranes and Damp Proofing Creams we also stock a range of DPC Injection Fluids (For Rising Damp) and Water Repellents (For Penetrating Damp).
Damp Proofing Fluids are intended for injection into walls affected by rising dampness. These products are injected through pre-drilled holes formed either in bricks or the mortar joints to form a continuous barrier against water rising from the ground.
Water Repellents offer a solution to masonry walls affected by Penetrating Dampness (Rain Penetration) without affecting the visual appearance of the structure.
Other methods may include Cementitious Tanking, this may be required when an internal floor level is below the external ground level and waterproofing is required for the lower part of the wall below the DPC.
Due to rising dampness, salts contained in ground water are absorbed into the masonry and subsequently into the plaster coat. If the rising damp had been severe the plasterwork can lose key and visual evidence of this problem can often be noted by the presence of salt deposits. Salt Neutraliser is used to overcome the problem of salts in a wide range of substrates from new plasterwork to old stone.
After a Chemical DPC, efflorescent salts are often left behind in the wall which are harmful to the plaster finish, leaving the appearance of damp patches. A suitable re-plastering specification must therefore be used, including a salt inhibiting and waterproofing product such as RenderProof. This product prevents passage of residual ground salts which are harmful to plaster finishes.
We also stock a range of Damp Proof Paints such as DampSeal DPM, which offers a simple method for many water proofing and vapour proofing applications, and EP40 Epoxy Floor Paint Coating, which is a water based, two-pack, easy to apply epoxy resin systems with excellent adhesion to concrete, wood and other surfaces providing attractive, hard wearing dust-free finishes.
Last but not least, is the Lectros DPC System.
The Lectros System introduces a very small and perfectly safe electric current into the wall just above ground level through a series of titanium anodes inserted into the brickwork. Its effect is to repel the rising moisture molecules down the walls and harmlessly back into the ground.
As long as this tiny positive charge is maintained, the protected walls remain dry and totally free of damp.
Lectros is the leading Green Damp Proofing System in the world and has been used successfully for over 30 years.
