Yes. Woodworm infestations in small areas such as segments of wood or furniture can be treated with products such as Insecticide and Fungicide. Larger infestations may require very thorough treatments that should be carried out by a professional.
Some common signs of Woodworm infestations include: The live or dead insects themselves, fresh dusting near or around the holes in the wood, or light coloured wood within the holes.
Treating Woodworm with Vinegar may force the Woodworm to leave the infected area but may not kill the insects themselves. White vinegar is a great non-lethal treatment for Woodworm when mixed with water with a 1:1 proportional ratio.
Woodworm infestations can be prevented by applying varnish or preservatives to exposed bare wood. Monitoring wood and following any smells of damp wood can help prevent Woodworm from manifesting.
WoodWorm may not be directly harmful to human health. However, untreated or unidentified Woodworm infestations can spread and cause structural damage, putting your property at risk.
Woodworms themselves cannot be identified through a smell. However, dry rot and damp wood can be signs of Woodworm infestation and can smell.
Permethrin 20.0% w/w: The insecticide is effective against all life stages of wood boring insects whilst the surfactant system used in the formulation promotes rapid absorption and deep penetration into timber.
