Sovereign SX70 Basecoat is a Solvent Based coating for use on all types of untreated soft or hard wood.
As with all SX70 products, Basecoat is microporous and as such allows the wood to breathe.
Note: Sovereign SX70 Basecoat is not sealers and should not be used as, e.g. knotting primers.
SX70 Basecoat can be applied by brushing, dipping or spraying to give a good degree of water repellency and anti fungal growth.
SX70 Basecoat, once applied, should be stained or painted as normal with a conventional paint / stain system. This must be done within 3 months of SX70 Basecoat application.
Internal and External use
Protects timber prior to installation
Easy application with brush, dip tank or spray
New timber should be lightly sanded in the direction of the grain and then dusted off.
Oily or resinous timber must first be washed down with white spirit and allowed to dry.
Shake well or stir by hand using a wooden stick prior to use. Apply using brush, dip tank or spray.
Ensure spray equipment can handle solvent-based coatings. Allow to dry.
Only one coat is necessary to protect wood prior to finishing.
When used in a dip tank it is imperative that timber is dry and free from sawdust. Failure to comply will result in sludge formation.
Typically touch dry in 3 - 4 hours and hard dry overnight.
Approximately 8-10m² per litre. One coat application.
