The Harris Ultimate Swan Neck Shed & Fence Paint Brush 120mm is purpose-built for large-scale exterior woodcare tasks, combining coverage efficiency with ergonomic design. Its swan neck construction allows for a more natural wrist angle during use, making it easier to manoeuvre across vertical surfaces and into awkward spaces such as corners, gaps between slats, or behind posts. The 120mm wide head enables fast, even application of thick woodcare products, helping users coat fence panels, sheds, decking, and other timber structures in fewer strokes. Designed to distribute paint or stain evenly across rough, porous wood grain, the brush minimises oversaturation and patchiness, delivering a consistent, professional finish on new or weathered surfaces alike.
A standout feature of the Harris Ultimate Swan Neck Brush is its resealable storage case, which keeps the bristles moist between uses for up to two weeks—ideal for users working over multiple days or facing weather-related delays. This reduces the need for repeated cleaning and significantly extends the working life of the brush. The synthetic bristles are engineered to hold a generous amount of woodcare product, whether using thick shed and fence paints or thinner, penetrating stains. The handle has been shaped for all-day comfort, with a contoured grip that supports extended use without fatigue. Suitable for use with all leading exterior woodcare brands, this brush offers a professional-grade solution for high-coverage outdoor projects where precision, speed, and convenience are equally important.
Faster Application Time: Designed to deliver paint 40% faster than standard block brushes, significantly reducing labour time during large-scale outdoor woodwork projects.
Swan Neck Design for Control: The unique angled neck allows for better wrist alignment, giving the user more natural and controlled brush strokes, especially on awkward or vertical surfaces.
Ergonomic Handle for Comfort: The contoured comfort grip handle is shaped to reduce hand fatigue during extended use, making it suitable for prolonged painting sessions across multiple panels or large surfaces.
Extended Wet Storage Case: Comes with a resealable case that keeps the brush wet for up to two weeks, eliminating the need to rinse and dry between coats or interrupted jobs, saving time and product.
High Paint Load Capacity: Bristle configuration allows the brush to retain more paint for longer, enabling efficient coverage with fewer interruptions to reload, especially effective on absorbent or rough-sawn timber.
Durable and Reusable: Built for repeat use with proper cleaning and care, making it a reliable tool for ongoing exterior maintenance.
Sheds and Summerhouses: Ideal for painting all types of timber sheds, from overlap panels to tongue and groove constructions, with consistent coverage even in corners and awkward joints.
Fencing and Gates: Suitable for both rough sawn and treated wood fencing, the brush provides quick, even distribution of exterior wood treatments on wide fence panels and vertical gate posts.
Decking and Raised Platforms: Works well with decking stains and oils, offering precise control along decking boards and railings where a roller may not reach effectively.
Treehouses and Outdoor Play Equipment: Especially effective for coating wooden treehouses or climbing structures where speed, reach, and careful application around fixings or angles are necessary.
Garden Structures: Also suitable for staining or painting pergolas, arbours, trellises, and other wooden features in the garden where both reach and control are required.
The Harris Ultimate Swan Neck Shed & Fence Paint Brush has been specifically developed for the efficient application of exterior woodcare coatings, offering both speed and control when working on fences, sheds, and other timber surfaces.
In order to maximise the performance and lifespan of this product, correct usage, preparation, and aftercare are essential.
This brush is intended for use on exterior wood surfaces including rough sawn timber, treated wood panels, garden sheds, fencing, gates, and decking.
It is compatible with most water-based or oil-based shed and fence paints, wood stains, and timber preservatives. Surfaces should be dry and free from mould, algae, or flaking paint to ensure proper adhesion and an even finish.
Before applying any paint or stain, the timber should be thoroughly cleaned using a stiff brush to remove dirt, debris, and loose material. If the surface is affected by algae or mould, it should first be treated with a suitable biocide or fungicidal wash and allowed to dry.
Sanding is not usually necessary for rough-sawn timber but may be beneficial on previously coated wood to promote adhesion. Ensure the surface is fully dry before painting.
Prior to use, rub the dry bristles gently with a clean hand to remove any loose particles. Do not soak or wet the brush before use.
Load the brush evenly with your chosen shed or fence paint, ensuring not to overload, and apply using smooth, even strokes that follow the direction of the wood grain. The ergonomic swan neck handle provides improved reach and control, making it particularly effective for painting between fence slats or awkward areas.
Apply a full, even coat, and if necessary, apply a second coat as recommended by the paint manufacturer. Always follow drying time and recoat guidelines provided on the paint tin.
After use, remove as much excess paint from the bristles as possible. If a water-based paint has been used, clean the brush immediately using warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly to ensure all residual paint is removed.
If using oil-based products, clean the brush using white spirit or an appropriate solvent-based cleaner. Refer to the paint manufacturer’s instructions for further guidance regarding suitable cleaning agents.
Once the brush has been cleaned, allow it to dry naturally with the bristle head laid flat. Do not leave the brush standing upright on its bristles or allow it to soak for extended periods, as this may cause bristle deformation or loss.
Store the brush in its resealable case if it is to be used again within a short time frame, as this will help keep the bristles moist and ready for reuse. Avoid leaving the brush in damp or unventilated environments.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the brush in suitable weather conditions, ideally when temperatures are mild and dry. Avoid painting in high humidity, rain, or direct sunlight as this can affect the finish.
Always read and follow the manufacturer’s guidance on the paint or woodcare product you are using. With proper maintenance and storage, the Harris Ultimate Swan Neck Shed & Fence Paint Brush will offer long-term reliability for a wide range of outdoor painting tasks.
