ACS Ecobor 20 Gel is an advanced, boron-based preservative designed to protect timber from wood-boring insects, wood-rotting fungi, and surface-level biological threats. With a 20% concentration of Boric Acid as the primary active ingredient, it delivers powerful protection against woodworm, dry rot, wet rot, and other destructive organisms, safeguarding the structural integrity of your wood.
The addition of Benzalkonium Chloride (2-2.5% w/w) amplifies the biocidal properties of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel, ensuring thorough eradication of surface growth, such as mould and algae. This professional-grade gel is effective for both brushable and injectable applications, allowing it to penetrate deeply and uniformly into high-risk timber areas, ensuring long-lasting, comprehensive preservation.
The versatility of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel makes it suitable for timber areas particularly susceptible to decay, including joist ends, wall plates, cut ends, purlins, and rafter ends. Its unique gel formulation is easy to handle, with a non-drip consistency that minimises waste and allows for precise, controlled application. This non-drip feature significantly reduces the risk of mess, making it ideal for projects where cleanliness and precision are essential.
ACS Ecobor 20 Gel is formulated to be odourless and non-flammable, enhancing workplace safety and operator comfort. This makes it suitable for use in various settings, from residential to commercial projects, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for applicators and building occupants.
One of the defining features of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel is its stability over time. Unlike other wood preservatives, its active ingredients do not degrade, providing lasting protection without the need for reapplication. The gel dries to a clear finish, leaving no surface residue or stains, allowing the wood to retain its natural appearance. This quality makes it easy to integrate preservation work into any project seamlessly, with the option to overpaint if desired.
Certified under The Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 (HSE No 6838), ACS Ecobor 20 Gel meets the highest standards for professional use. Available only to professional or commercial users, this preservative is trusted by qualified operators for its reliability, safety, and effectiveness. Its dual-action approach—protecting timber deeply while safeguarding surfaces from mould and algae—makes ACS Ecobor 20 Gel a vital tool for long-term wood preservation.
ACS Ecobor 20 Gel carries the HSE Approval No 6838.
High Efficacy Against Wood-Boring Insects and Fungi: With 20% Boric Acid as the active ingredient, ACS Ecobor 20 Gel provides a powerful defence against woodworm, dry rot, wet rot, and other wood-destroying fungi. This high concentration ensures thorough protection for timber, especially in high-risk areas.
Permanent Protection for Lasting Durability: The stable formulation of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel means that the active ingredients do not degrade over time, providing lasting preservation and eliminating the need for frequent reapplication. This ensures enduring protection for timber in both residential and commercial applications.
Non-Staining and Overpaintable: ACS Ecobor 20 Gel dries clear without leaving surface residues or stains, preserving the natural appearance of the wood. Its overpaintable finish makes it ideal for projects where aesthetic quality must be maintained, allowing for seamless integration into building or restoration work.
Odourless and Non-Flammable for Safe Application: The odourless and non-flammable formulation makes ACS Ecobor 20 Gel safe and comfortable to use in various environments. Its non-intrusive qualities enhance workplace safety and allow for discreet application in residential and commercial settings.
Versatile Application with Non-Drip Properties: The gel formulation is easy to handle and apply with brushable and injectable options, ensuring deep and even penetration. Its non-drip property prevents spills and mess, allowing for precise, controlled application in hard-to-reach timber areas.
Treatment of High-Risk Timber Areas: ACS Ecobor 20 Gel is ideal for use on high-risk timber areas, including joist ends, purlins, wall plates, cut ends, and rafter ends, where exposure to moisture or environmental factors increases the risk of decay. Its deep penetration provides comprehensive protection in these critical areas.
Preservation of Timber in Residential and Commercial Settings: The odourless, non-staining nature of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel makes it suitable for both residential and commercial applications. It can be used in interior and exterior timber without causing discomfort to occupants, ensuring high levels of safety and comfort.
Surface Protection Against Mould and Algae: The Benzalkonium Chloride component effectively eradicates and prevents the growth of algae, mould, and other surface-level biological threats on timber. This is particularly beneficial for outdoor timbers exposed to damp conditions or environments prone to organic growth.
Integration with Building and Restoration Projects: The clear, non-staining finish of ACS Ecobor 20 Gel allows for easy overpainting, making it ideal for preservation work that needs to blend into restoration or building projects. This ensures wood preservation without compromising the visual integrity of the wood.
Boric Acid is the primary active ingredient in ACS Ecobor 20 Gel, providing powerful biocidal protection against a variety of wood-destroying organisms. Its high concentration in the gel formulation allows it to penetrate deeply into timber, reaching the areas that are most vulnerable to decay. Boric Acid is highly effective against wood-boring insects such as woodworm (Anobium punctatum) and a wide range of wood-rotting fungi, including both dry rot and wet rot. Its mode of action works by interfering with the metabolic functions of fungi and insects, halting their ability to damage the wood structure. Furthermore, Boric Acid remains stable within the wood, providing long-lasting, durable protection that does not easily break down over time, making it ideal for permanent preservation in high-risk timbers. Its low toxicity to humans and mammals adds to its value as a sustainable preservative, allowing for professional use in both residential and commercial environments.
Alkyl Dimethylbenzyl Ammonium Chloride, also known as Benzalkonium Chloride, serves as an essential secondary biocide within ACS Ecobor 20 Gel, providing effective surface protection against organic growth. As a quaternary ammonium compound (QAC), it is highly effective at targeting surface-level biological threats, including algae, mould, lichen, and certain bacteria. Its action works by disrupting the cell membranes of these organisms, causing cell death and preventing regrowth on the treated surface. Even in lower concentrations, Benzalkonium Chloride offers a reliable layer of defence, ensuring that treated timber remains free from surface-level organic contaminants that could compromise its longevity and aesthetics. Its effectiveness in damp conditions, combined with its non-corrosive nature, makes it a highly compatible partner with Boric Acid in wood preservation.
The combination of Boric Acid and Alkyl Dimethylbenzyl Ammonium Chloride in ACS Ecobor 20 Gel provides a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to wood preservation. Boric Acid penetrates deeply into the timber, safeguarding the wood from within against wood-boring insects and fungal decay. Meanwhile, Benzalkonium Chloride enhances this protection by tackling surface-level biological threats, such as mould and algae, that could otherwise compromise the appearance and structure of the timber. Together, these active ingredients create a powerful barrier that protects both the core and surface of the wood, ensuring long-lasting, resilient protection in high-risk environments. This dual-action approach makes ACS Ecobor 20 Gel a reliable choice for durable wood preservation in challenging conditions.
