Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) Units

'Positive Input Ventilation' (PIV) is the UK’s most popular method of low-energy whole home ventilation. There are two ranges, Drimaster-Eco and Flatmaster, the first being designed for properties with a loft space and the latter intended for homes without, such as flats and apartments. Ideal for Repairs and Maintenance: Without adequate ventilation, the moisture produced by washing, cooking and bathing... Read More

Technical Specifications

The DRI-ECO-HC provides whole home ventilation using the Positive Input Ventilation principle. Essentially the concept is to introduce fresh, filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging movement of air from inside to outside. To achieve this, the unit is mounted in the loft space, drawing air through the filters and inputting it, at ceiling level, into the property.

This unit also comes with a 7 segment display in the ceiling diffuser, offering complete control at the touch of a button without needing access to the unit located in the loft space. A lock function can be used to ensure the system remains tamper-proof.

Our range of Drimaster-Eco units are fitted with an internal temperature sensor. This sensor continuously monitors the temperature in the loft, boosting the air volume when the loft temperature is above a set level.

If the loft temperature becomes excessive the unit will switch to standby mode (no airflow). Once installed, the airflow can be set to suit the house size and, if required, the way it responds to the temperature changes within.

Application

The DRI-ECO-HC provides whole home ventilation for properties with lofts. The unit is mounted in the loft-space, drawing air through the filters and inputting it, at ceiling level, into the property.

Commissioning can be carried out via the controls cited within the ceiling diffuser.

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV)

The Nuaire Flatmaster offers a low-cost, whole home ventilation solution for homes without lofts. Cure condensation dampness and remove allergens and pollutants from the home with the low-energy ventilation system, from the inventors of PIV.

Based on the popular and low-energy Positive Input Ventilation principle which Nuaire invented in 1972, the Nuaire Flatmaster has been specifically designed to ventilate flats and other homes without lofts. The system introduces air into the home at a continuous low rate, eliminating condensation dampness and forcing out indoor pollutants such as Radon gas and carbon monoxide. Allergens are kept to a minimum and outdoor pollutants such as pollen and traffic fumes are kept out. The results are a fresh and healthy indoor environment.

The aesthetically pleasing and compact Flatmaster unit is usually situated in a convenient location, such as a kitchen cupboard or hallway, and is ducted to a central location. Multi-positional spigots allow for quicker installation with only one external wall penetration.

The Flatmaster is supported by BBA Certification Certificate No: 00/3727.

Features
  • Cures Condensation Dampness - PIV removes humidity from the air, preventing mould growth and controlling dust-mite allergens.

  • Improves Indoor Air Quality - Indoor pollutants from cooking and cleaning are removed while outdoor pollutants including traffic fumes, pollen and Radon gas are kept out.

  • Meets Regulations - Meets Part F & L of Building Regulations as a low-energy ventilation strategy.

  • Extremely Low Power Consumption - As low as 3 watts.

  • Easy Installation and Very Low Maintenance - Filter clean or replacement every 18 months

  • 5 Year Warranty - 1 year parts and labour, remaining years parts only.

Technical Specifications

The unit is designed to take fresh air from outside, filter the air and discharge it into the central hallway via a system of ducting. The unit is usually situated in a kitchen, airing cupboard or hallway, and is ducted to a central location. The interchangeable, multi-positional inlet/outlet spigots allow for quicker installation with only one external wall penetration.

The dwelling internal air discharge grille is usually installed at high level in a central location within the hallway, although discharging the air down the length of the hallway (away from the front door) should also prove acceptable.

Unit performance may be enhanced if an existing heat source can warm the discharged air, for example, by locating the discharge grille above a radiator.
