Product Description
Wykabor 10 is an aqueous wood preservative and masonry biocide based on disodium octaborate and benazalkonium chloride. Suitable for the eradication of common furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum) and other wood boring insects in building timbers. Also for the prevention of fungal decay in sound timbers following the removal of sources of moisture.
Wykabor 10 may also be used in conjunction with Wykabor 40 as past of an eradicant treatment against fungal decay.
As a masonry biocide Wykabor 10 may be used to treat brickwork etc. contaminated by dry rot (Serpula lacrymans), the removal and control of external biological growths (moss, lichens, algae) on stonework etc., or mould control on internal surfaces prone to condensation.
Wykabor 10 is approved for use under The Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986.
Benefits
- Good penetration.
- Very low odour.
- Non-flammable.
- Highly effective dual purpose preservative and biocide.
Application
Wykabor 10 can be applied to timbers by brush or coarse spray (low pressure; 210-350 kPa, 30-50lbs/in²) or by immersion (minimum 3 minute dip) to achieve the coverages noted below.
For masonry dry rot treatments, walls of 115mm can be treated by surface brush or spray (230mm walls from both sides) whereas thicker walls may also need to be drilled (12-16mm) at intervals of c.230mm to facilitate low pressure injection or gravity irrigation treatments to the centre of the wall.
In the case of timber sub-floor areas, the base of the structural walls, sleeper walls and oversite (solum) should be treated with Wykabor 10. If dry rot mycelium has spread beneath a concrete floor or into subsoil it should be excavated and replaced following a surface treatment with Wykabor 10.
For external masonry treatments apply Wykabor 10 by brush or low pressure spray (avoid windy conditions).
Following an initial application dead growth should be removed and a second treatment applied to achieve the best residual control over re-growth.
Coverage
By Brush/Spray: 1 litre per 4m² of wood or masonry surface.
By Dipping (Timber): Approx 5-20 litres/m³ (dependant on timber dimensions etc).
By Irrigation (Masonry): 10 litres/m³.
Formulation
